What is Amaretto?

Amaretto is a sweet Italian liqueur and means "little bitter."  It may have a tiny bitter edge to it, but mostly it is sweet and delicious with an almond flavor, but often contains no almond.  It is made with apricot pits and varies in its recipes, but can include spices as well. It is often used as a dessert drink. Amaretto cookies get their delicious flavor from this liqueur.

Try it; you'll love it and find many more uses for it in cocktails and in your kitchen cooking from adding it to cookies, puddings, pancakes and other desserts; especially at the holidays.

Make the Amaretto Sour's Cousin Cocktail

Apricot Brandy Sour—Shake 1 oz. JABnow Organic Orange Lemon drink mixer, 3 oz. water, 1 oz. apricot brandy and ice. (Add some egg white for a frothy component).  Makes 1 cocktail.

If you feel a bit more daring you can combine the Amaretto Sour with the Apricot Brandy Sour and it's really a quite fabulous combination that creates a deeply delicious cocktail.
